In Memory

This beautiful lady is Pistola. I have hesitated to post pictures of her because she died just months after I started working for Doc. Despite only knowing her for mere months, Pistola was an amazing mare and just looking at her pictures made me cry. I can't imagine the pain it caused Doc to lose her. Pistola was one of only two foals Doc had from her 32 year old mare Nugget (who is still living happily on the farm). Doc owned Nugget's dam and raised Nugget and, in turn, Pistola from foals so it's understandable that this was a very special animal. Only two months before she died, she gave birth to Indy- one of the most beautiful, wonderful horses I have ever had the pleasure of being near. Going through the images I took of Indy the other day I could see her mother all over her and I thought it was time to remember Pistola. :Heart:
